David Lamy, RMT
After becoming a Registered Massage Therapist in 1999, David returned to his hometown in Huntsville, Ontario, to begin his professional career working with chiropractors, private clinic and resort spas. In 2002 he moved to Toronto and has been diversifying ever since.
His experience also includes six years as a massage therapy instructor and tutor, a bilingual examiner with the College Of Massage Therapists of Ontario for licensing exams, fitness instructor and coach.
A passionate athlete, he has completed numerous ½ and full Ironman triathlons as well as full and ½ marathons, obstacle course races and loves any sport with a racquet. With his enthusiasm, he brings a wealth of experience, ideas, empathy, coaching and clinical knowledge to each of his treatments.
David finds that working with the patient, their interests and their environment to be the most effective way of helping people take ownership of their own health. The goal is to get the patient back to regular function and to prevent opportunity for re-injury. Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue and Soft Tissue Release (like ART) and Cupping are some of the other non-Swedish massage techniques that he uses in treating a variety of conditions. He is a firm believer in moving the patient around during treatment – after all, they rarely injure themselves by just laying there. He also has a special interest and success in working with both surgical and non-surgical scar tissue as well as fascial adhesions, which cause restrictions in movement. Having said that, he also appreciates the need to de-stress by laying quietly and restoring the mind-body connection through relaxation massage.
